- The Name
Traveling through Europe with my husband, we loved Sweden and I was so taken with the importance they placed on Fika. Which roughly translates to “A time for good conversation with colleagues and friends, shared whilst enjoying coffee and cake”.
Fika seemed so fitting for these bright little creations. A great piece to be worn when enjoying coffee, cake, lunch and dinner with good friends.
- The Reason
I started making earrings when on maternity leave with my first child.
I had always expressed myself through the way I dressed and found myself in the early weeks of having a baby struggling with what to wear and not being able to utilise my previous wardrobe, due to the limitations it now proved for those day to day tasks of being a Mum!
I found my earrigs became the easiest way to dress up any outfit. Even if it was the same black dress I'd worn over and over, because it was comfortable, made me feel good and was easy.
I wanted to make something simpler, fun and flatterin to suit all Women and help them feel beautiful in their own skin.
- The Process
I hand mix every colour found on Fika earrings. Mixing colours and picturing the Woman who will wear them as I go. Each piece is unique as I only create a few pieces at a time and I am always playing with colour. No two colours are ever the same.
When I first started creating it was just for friends and family, I would think about their favourite colours and things they liked to do and create pieces I thought they would connect with. Earthy greens and flowering pastels for my Mum the gardener, pinks and greens for friends who loved sunshine and coffee, blues for friends who loved visiting the beach.
Every time I create a colour I picture the people who will wear them and hope that you can find a pair that connect with you, or that you know will connect with someone you love.
